4. Human Rights

A study of the role of human rights in social and economic development, with focus not only on civil and political rights but also on social and economic rights. The various treaties within which the human rights framework has developed will be studied along with their practical impact in various fields, such as refugees and the internally displaced, the environment, peace-keeping, etc. An understanding of several crosscutting aspects of human rights will be stressed, and student should choose from among the following courses:
